Veneers

Why consider dental veneers?

It’s not uncommon when we begin dental treatment on a patient to hear about how their smile has changed over the years. Many of our patients tell us they are no longer completely satisfied with how they look because something isn’t quite right with their smile. As time goes on, and we keep busy with our everyday activities, life can take a toll on our teeth. We develop stains on our teeth, or experience chipped, cracked, or gapped teeth. It may even affect our self-confidence when we’re in social situations with family, friends and neighbors, hard at work in professional situations with co-workers, or meeting with clients and prospective customers.

With the modern dentistry offered at Saratoga Dentistry, and the artistry of Dr. Daniel Araldi, who has many years of experience perfecting and refining teeth through cosmetic dentistry, the good news is that, now more than ever, fixing tooth imperfections easily and affordably with porcelain dental veneers is within reach! Be sure to work with an experienced dentist who uses high quality materials and is familiar with recent innovations in dental technology.

What are Veneers?

Veneers

Ever wonder how famous TV and movie actors have such beautiful teeth? Often, it’s because they have veneers on their teeth! Unlike crowns, which fit the entire tooth, and primarily are used on molars, veneers fit the front of the teeth, the ones we see when you smile.

Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or resin composite materials that are available in many different tooth-colored shades, which fit over the visible damaged portions of a tooth.

Our dental clinic in Saratoga Woods offers two veneer types from which you may choose: ceramic and resin-based. Both are designed to enhance the appearance of damaged, discolored or broken teeth to improve your appearance, and boost your confidence.

What are some of the advantages of veneers?

If your teeth are misshapen or discolored, a dentist may recommend dental veneers to improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth permanently. They create a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned, perfect and shapely teeth. The translucent quality of today’s ceramic veneers means they look like your natural teeth.

Benefits of dental veneers include:

  • Enhancing the appearance of the mouth and smile
  • Having a natural appearance and look exactly like normal teeth
  • Eliminating awkward spaces between teeth
  • Covering stains, chips and discoloration of teeth
  • Durability and resiliency

Veneers or Whitening, what’s right for me?

If your teeth are only mildly discolored, teeth whitening, combined with some simple orthodontic alignment might be all you need. If you have severely discolored or dull teeth, veneers may be the best solution for you. Although veneers require more time and financial commitment than teeth whitening, the results are typically well worth it.

When are veneers a better choice than bonding?

Bonding is often an inexpensive and wonderfully effective alternative for small chips and cracks in the teeth. Such minor problems may be functionally and cosmetically repaired with a composite “white filling,” This is a procedure in which a composite resin material is bonded to the tooth, filling in the chip or crack, and protecting the surrounding tooth structure.  For more severe cases of dullness, wear, discoloration, mild chipping, cracking, spacing, or uneven teeth, dental veneers may well be your best option.

How Do Veneers Work?

Dr. Araldi will first take an impression of the tooth using dental putty, as well as a digital x-ray of your mouth. Once the impression hardens, we send it to our lab to create a customized porcelain veneer. Our team will give you a call once your custom veneer is ready, and schedule you to come in for your fitting.

Next, Dr. Araldi gently removes a tiny bit of enamel to prepare the tooth surface for the new veneer. He will then apply a thin and special type of cementing material to the tooth. Once the cement and veneer are on the tooth, a special light is used to ‘cure’ or dry it so the veneer will adhere permanently to the tooth.

Will my insurance plan cover veneers?

You probably already know the answer to this, because it really depends on your insurance company. For a single veneer, coverage can range from 0% to 100%.

Coverage for cosmetic procedures also varies by plan.  Our practice committed to working with you and your Dental Plan to ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled.

There can be many different plans through a single insurance company. To learn about your coverage, you may refer to the enrollment information you were provided, or call the 800 number on the back of your card.  If you need help obtaining this information, one of our team members here at Saratoga Dentistry is happy to help you. If it turns out your insurance does not cover treatment, talk to us about our financial assistance options to help ensure you can receive the types of cosmetic dental treatment you feel are best for you.
