CEREC – Same Day Dental Crowns

Cerec Restorations, also known as Same Day Cerec Crowns and Crowns in a Day

Advanced dental technology is having a positive impact on peoples’ lives.  A notable example of this is a leading-edge innovation, which reduces your time in the dental chair, offers greater comfort and creates satisfying results.

This breakthrough technology is CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing), which allows us to quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-colored, metal free, ceramic fillings, saving you time, while offering greater convenience.

If you have received one or more tooth replacements (aka dental restorations) in the last several years, you already know that the traditional method can be a long process from start to finish.

Traditionally, patients first had to receive a temporary crown, inlay, or onlay, then return to the dental practice approximately two weeks later to receive their permanent restoration which, if the fit was not right, meant yet another visit following adjustment of the restoration by the dental lab.

CEREC can help you achieve all-ceramic restorations in a single visit

It’s now possible for your dentist to create, prepare, and place your restoration in just one dental appointment right here in the communities of Saratoga, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Brookview and Saratoga Woods.  There is no need to wait for a dental laboratory to complete the work, followed by an inconvenient second appointment with the dentist. Best of all, your crown, inlay, or onlay will last just as long, and blend in with your natural smile.

How Does CEREC work?

CEREC restorations use a composite, metal-free ceramic that helps achieve and maintain your optimal oral health. Not only can you receive your new restoration in just one appointment; our Saratoga Woods dental team takes special care to ensure it blends in with the shade and shape of the rest of your teeth.

You can even opt to have an old metal filling replaced using this new technology!

The CEREC system used by Dr. Araldi combines computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD CAM) technology. The CEREC software scans your mouth to capture digital images to create a three-dimensional model of your tooth. The dentist reviews that model in an enlarged format on a screen to develop a ‘blueprint’ for your restoration. We then send the approved restoration to our onsite, in-house, laboratory for fabrication during your single visit.

CAD/CAM technology incorporates a camera, computer and milling machine into one instrument. We use a special camera to take accurate 3D digital pictures of your teeth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where we use special CAD software to design a very precise restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait! Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process only takes about one hour.

Our dental lab in Saratoga Woods creates your new dental restoration from biocompatible, white ceramic, which is resistant to plaque. You will enjoy immediately improved oral health and a more attractive smile when our dental team places your new crown, inlay, or onlay.

Our Goal

To economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth with the strength of natural enamel.

What does this innovation mean for you, our patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings to discolor your smile. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive, plaque-resistant and very strong. Dentists no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated.

There are over two decades of clinical research and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective. Patients who have experienced this technology in our office have been very impressed and want to have this technology used for every future dental need!

How can I find out if this is an option for me?
