Child Dentistry
As an experienced family and children’s dentistry practice, Dr. Araldi understands the importance of a positive early dental experience. Children who feel anxious at their first dental appointment are likely to grow up with dental anxiety.
We believe that ‘the golden rule’ of treating others with care and respect is an essential part of children’s dentistry, and should especially include how we treat and communicate with your little one.
The first “regular” child dentistry visit should be just after your child’s third birthday. This first visit is usually short, involving very little treatment, as it’s primary intent is to help your child feel comfortable with the dentist.
Here at our Saratoga Dentistry, we gently examine your child’s teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken, to reveal decay and check on the progress of your child’s permanent teeth under the gums. We may clean your child’s teeth and apply topical fluoride to help protect the teeth against decay.
The team at Saratoga Dentistry is committed to teaching your children appropriate oral hygiene habits as early as possible. Our goal includes prevention of tooth decay and other oral health conditions by educating parents as well as children about optimal oral care.
Our kids’ dental practice near Los Gatos, Cupertino, Brookview, Quito Village and not far from San Jose offers a comfortable, inviting, and relaxed environment. We believe that all our valued patients, whether child or parent, deserve nothing less than our undivided attention during their appointment. If we ever fall short of this, we hope you will be sure to let us know.
Dental Sealants for Children
Having tooth decay at an early age leads to fillings and possibly even the loss of permanent teeth. Several factors can contribute to the development of childhood cavities (caries). These factors include a diet high in sugar, or the lack of a regular routine with home oral care. The good news is that Dr. Araldi can help your child avoid early tooth decay by placing dental sealants which cover the grooves in their back teeth that can be difficult to get and keep clean. Sealants are a very simple and affordable way to prevent cavities.
Children’s Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride varnish treatment can also help to slow the process of tooth decay, as well as prevent its future spread. When used early and often in combination with good hygiene, they can help your child avoid cavities altogether. It’s important to model a healthy diet for your child, and make sure they brush at least twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss their teeth daily, and attend each biannual preventive care appointment.
Our team at Saratoga Dentistry will always spend time helping educate your child on the importance of good oral hygiene, and offer them tips for staying on track in a friendly, supportive and non-judgmental way.
